Group Financial Controller

Job Description

A 12 month maternity leave contract for a Qualified and experienced Group Financial Controller in an exceptional, award winning £40m turnover international business. A key role in which you will use your prior management skills to lead, coach and develop your team of five direct reports who produce/consolidate accounts for  Group operations in the UK, USA, Asia and mainland Europe. This is a varied and exciting role in a business which continues to grow and expand globally.


The current Group Financial Controller’s maternity leave is due to start this spring and we are looking for a dynamic individual who can ideally commence during February so as to have a good hand over period.


You will need to have proven experience in a similar role, including the development and training of people as well as having good technical accounting abilities. In this role you may be required to travel, although it is likely there would be no more than three trips during this contract (subject to prevailing travel restrictions necessitated by the pandemic).



Key responisbilities of the role include:


Coaching, leading and developing the finance team, of which this role will have 5 direct reports.


Production of monthly Board Pack and consolidated management accounts.


Leading the annual audit and tax compliance process globally.


Preparing and taking ownership of the group and company’s statutory accounts and corporation tax returns.

Assisting with the preparation of the group’s annual budget and periodical reforecasts.


Working with all areas of the business to continue to drive efficiencies through the daily processes and controls that are currently in place.

Reviewing of all reporting documents that are produced by the finance team, e.g., external (VAT returns, etc) and internal (budgeting documents, communications, etc).

Assisting the CFO and CEO with any projects that assist in developing the group’s strategic plan.


Applicants should have several years of post Qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).


A natural leader who respects and understands the value of a good team, you are the kind of person who brings energy and vitality to the role and who is proactive in their approach. Strong organisational skills are key and your effective communication skills enable you to engage with both internal and external stakeholders.


Good analytical and problem solving skills should be complemented by strong excel and data manipulation skills.
