A Logistics Coordinator is being sought to cover a period of maternity leave and further strengthen the Procurement team, which serves this award winning global business. Based at the company’s global HQ, and reporting to the Head of Procurement, the role includes liaison with manufacturers in both Asia and Europe to ship goods globally by land, sea and air, consolidating containers between suppliers, negotiating with freight forwarders and maintaining customs tariffs. This role will appeal to an internationally minded, dynamic logistics professional, preferably with previous experience in the global freight forwarding industry.
Managing stock levels via a bespoke IT system.
Maintaining company timelines and procedures.
Arranging booking “ins and outs” and moving stock between warehouses.
Preparing and arranging necessary shipping documents to coordinate shipping and facilitate efficient order payments.
Consolidating containers between suppliers by liaising with suppliers to optimise sea shipments.
Negotiating with freight forwarders / courier services to obtain best rates.
Calculating fastest, most cost-effective routes between suppliers’ ports and international customers.
Negotiating and arranging air shipments / regular courier shipments with full documentation.
Improving performance by analysing logistical problems and producing new solutions.
Maintaining the customs tariff (EU, USA) classification database for the entire product range.
Assisting team members globally when required.
In addition to having relevant experience in the freight forwarder industry or in a very similar role, the Logistics Co-Ordinator must be well organised and an effective communicator who pays attention to detail and deadlines. A friendly team player with a positive outlook, you should also be proficient across Microsoft Office. A working knowledge of Incoterms / container specifications is highly desirable.
