Job Description

An opportunity for an experienced  Production Supervisor from the food / fmcg manufacturing sector to lead up to 30 Production staff on a rotating early/late shift (6-2/2-10).  You will be joining a thriving and established £90m turnover business which is committed to maintaining its impressive growth through effective management, continuous improvement, investment in people, machinery and systems and new product development.


The Production Supervisor’s duties will include:


  • Set up and supervise product packing lines to meet output and quality targets.

  • Support the Manager in developing and improving all aspects of factory operations.

  • Understand daily production programmes and ensure shift is set up thoroughly for a prompt start.

  • Check raw materials quantities and best before dates and ensure all are in place prior to the start of shift.

  • Be aware of output targets and constantly monitor line operation to ensure adherence to plan.

  • Coordinate product changeovers as instructed by the Shift Manager/Production Manager.

  • Continuously monitor waste and reject levels; troubleshoot or escalate as necessary.

  • Allocate staff to appropriate areas and communicate expectations throughout the shift.

  • Resolve team performance issues and keep motivation levels high throughout the shift.

  • Coach and facilitate the development of staff in their job and interpersonal skills.

  • Train team members to understand and comply with hygiene, health and safety standards.

  • Continuously monitor for packaging or machinery problems; troubleshoot or escalate as necessary.

  • Monitor labelling, weights, dates and box configuration to ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Monitor pallet configuration.

  • Complete required documentation for all shift activity.

  • Develop collaborative working relationships with other business areas.

  • Make recommendations to the Shift Manager/Production Manager for improvements throughout the factory operation and support the implementation of change.

  • Own and maintain training matrix for team.

  • Staff induction.

  • Organise work area.

  • Arrange overtime cover as required.

  • Deputise for shift manager.

  • Complete return to work interviews.

  • Sign off completed works orders.

  • Approve holiday request for team.

  • Support trials and pre-trial meetings.

  • Support customer and internal audits.

  • Ensure escalation of issues in accordance with escalation process.

  • Near miss reporting.

  • Report H&S issues.

  • Immediately escalate any occasions of gross misconduct and to keep a record of minor misdemeanours for escalation on the third occasion.


An experienced Production Supervisor with proven leadership skills  you are a strong organiser and motivator who is able to communicate effectively with your team, peer and senior Managers. Ideally you will have acquired your experience in an fmcg manufacturing environment.
