The Purchasing Assistant plays a key role in the delivery and  co-ordination of an effective, efficient and pro-active administration service to the Procurement team and acts as the support to all areas of a key product category group.

Your ‘can do’, teamwork, right first time approach will enable you to fit into a positive working environment, in a small team of four. This role is commercially focussed and requires someone who is willing to be actively  involved in the overall objectives within the Procurement team and the needs of the business to support future growth and profitability.

Key aspects of the role include:

Actively work with the Procurement team, suppliers and logistics staff to pro-actively work towards reducing the cost of raw materials and take out costs throughout the entire supply chain.

Expediting of samples in relation to NPD activities.

Data filing – electronic and physical.

General Administration for the purchasing team.

Resolution of purchase invoice queries.

Proactively analyse MRP data and maintain price data.

Track and identify Purchase Price Variances.

Maintain and develop all Excel spreadsheets relating to the product category.

Ensure that all category management data is captured and held in a central respository which can be easily accessed by all Purchasing team members.

Maintain all volume supply contracts and liaise with suppliers periodically on contract balances outstanding.

Conduct research to support centrally agreed pricing strategies and assist on ad hoc projects as required.

Having previously worked in a purchasing environment (ideally fmcg products) you are self motivated with excellent time management skills. The Purchasing Assistant must be commercially aware and a quick thinker who is able to problem solve in a level headed manner in a busy department, whilst maintaining a close attention to detail.

Strong Excel spreadsheet analysis skills are essential as is a good knowledge of all Microsoft applications.

Most importantly you are confident, professional and pleasant and a committed team player.
