Quality Engineer

Job Description

 

An excellent opportunity for a Quality Engineer experienced in the manufacturing sector to join a progressive, multi award winning business which offers an exceptional working environment and a positive working culture and ethos. Based at the company’s corporate HQ, and reporting to the Head of Quality, the position operates within the friendly 8 person QA team.

The post of Quality Engineer is key to furthering the company’s quality and sustainability mission to reduce waste in all its forms generated by the business and its suppliers. With a “Right First Time” approach running through all activities, you will analyse business intelligence data and apply corrective and preventive actions as appropriate. Learning lessons through customer feedback and research and development the Quality team can influence new designs and improve existing ones. To ensure continuous improvement, you will conduct Quality audits, monitoring functions within the business and ensuring that effective and efficient business processes are maintained and manage the development and analysis of business data related to quality to enable effective decision making inside the quality department.

Key duties include:

  • Participation in the administration of warranty claims.
  • Participate in the Internal Auditing Program designed to ensure compliance with established standards to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products.
  • Facilitate the Specification Management System including regular audits of the system.
  • Develop, implement, and conduct training programs to increase Quality Assurance skills across the business.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement program.
  • Assist in the management of the Corrective/Preventative action system.
  • Lead Risk Assessment activities related to suppliers, hardware, designs and processes.
  • Recommend policies, procedures and standards to leverage best practices and standardized business processes across the company.
  • Assist in preparation for regulatory audits utilizing required tools.
  • Participate in the “First Product Run” process, generating reports to demonstrate compliance and conformance to engineering requirements.
  • Participate in the “Tool Proof Sample” process, reviewing reports and approval as appropriate.
  • Participate in “pre-shipment inspection” process by reviewing and approving reports.
  • Raise supplier corrective action reports and liaise with the Supplier Quality Manager to resolve issues found in a timely manner.

 

ONC/HNC/Degree or equivalent qualified in a Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics discipline you should have some relevant Quality Assurance experience and ideally Quality Management System and auditing experience and knowledge of supplier Quality Management system application.

Knowledge and utilisation experience of statistical analysis tools is also important, together with document control systems knowledge. Familiarity with manual inspection methods and equipment also required.

 

Self motivated, positive and enthusiastic, you are an adept problem solver, capable of implementing corrective action plans. (5Y and 8D experience ideally). You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in ISO9001; familiarity with PPAP, APQP and DFMEA advantageous. You should be willing to travel overseas very occasionally.
