Job Description

As one of the world’s pre-eminent suppliers of systems and components to the aircraft industry, you can rest assured that our client offers the incoming Senior Buyer a stimulating and challenging role in a dynamic environment.

 

Based at their 400+ employee Luton manufacturing facility, the Senior Buyer  will be engaged in both Civil and Defence business lines and will report to the Procurement Manager.

The Senior Buyer will be accountable for local commercial management and assigned non-strategic sourcing for the geographical area under their responsibility including in-contract modifications, transfers or new products, ensuring products are sourced at competitive prices in line with aerospace commodity strategy and management of supplier delivery for parts sourced as modifications, transfers or new products until FAI is achieved. There is the flexibility to work from home up to one day per week dependent on the needs of the business. 

You should be qualified to Degree or equivalent level in a Business, Engineering of Science discipline or be qualified to at least CIPS Level 3. Demonstrable relevant business experience within a Procurement role is essential and you should be familiar with MRP systems.

Experience of working with suppliers in both the UK and internationally is required and you should be able to demonstrate experience and ability in working with cross functional teams and providing leadership.

Most important is that you are a person with the enthusiasm, skills and passion to make a difference. Driven, organised and professional, you are also an effective communicator with proven negotiating skills.The successful person will have the ability to build relations with the supplier network with insight in suppliers’ processes and will take responsibility and ownership of targets and objectives, effectively managing own time and influence and leading colleagues. 

Starting salary will be in a range of just over £34000 pa through to £45000 pa with the opportunity to earn up to 15% in bonus. Core business hours are: 07:30  - 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 07:30 - 12:30 Friday, with the opportunity to work from home 1 day per week.  The role will require flexibility for monthly travel to attend supplier meetings both National and Internationally.
