Job Description

Opportunity of Shipping Co-Ordinator with a profitable and substantial freight forwarding and logistics business in which you will assist with the day to day management of departmental multimodal bookings (import  and export) including documentation , customs entries, releases and deliveries and invoicing.


The role entails interaction with customers, team members and internal departments (including Sales, Transport and Accounts) to ensure that all bookings are handled in accordance with agreed procedures and payment terms and to customers’ full satisfaction.


Duties of the Shipping Co-Ordinator will include:


  • placing bookings with respective shipping line / carrier agent.

  • Liaising with customers to ensure that correct documentation is received for shipment and forwarded to shipping lines as necessary.

  • Ensure shipping lines have instruction for bills of lading and UCR references in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that customer receives copy of draft bill of lading for approval and send approval to shipping line.

  • Allocate incoming payments.

  • Check that booking has been invoiced correctly by shipping line.

  • Deal with import operational issues such as obtaining charges from line, sending endorsed bills and cheques to shipping line, container release requests, liaising with customer, etc.


    We seek a Shipping Co-Ordinator who has acquired experience with a Freight Forwarding / Logistics organisation, dealing with multi modal Export and Import shipments. You should have a working knowledge of customs clearance and possess a friendly and professional manner and good communication skills. The ability to remain calm in a busy environment is essential, as is your ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
