Strategic Buyer

Job Description

A maternity cover contract for a Strategic Buyer with an international designer and manufacturer of electro mechanical equipment for the Life Science and Healthcare sectors, anticipated to be of 9 months to 1 year in duration.

 

Responsibilities of the Strategic Buyer will include:

Managing Sourcing Strategy for assigned and joint responsibility suppliers’ portfolio to deliver cost savings to the business.

Risk analysis and management.

Supporting Engineering product development projects to meet cost targets, mitigate risk, support the supplier quotation process and part availability for launch.

Creating and implementing detailed commodity plans and supplier strategies, (ie, material deflation target, total cost analysis, supplier improvement plans).

Working closely with functional site teams including Engineering, Quality, Planning/Purchasing and Production to deliver on sourcing strategies.

Initiating and getting involved in the commercial negotiations and supply to help achieve business objectives.

Maintaining continuous in-depth knowledge of market conditions, industry trends and developing technologies and keep exploring alternate source of supplies.

Issuing purchase orders.

Managing and updating price changes/fluctuations.

Ideally Qualified to Degree and/or CIPS level or equivalent you should have solid experience of Strategic Buying where you have had exposure to procurement activities for product design projects in a manufacturing business. You should also be experienced in working with an ERP/MRP system for part master and parts list generation and maintenance, (ideally INFOR and SAP). Familiarity with engineering change control, documentation control, etc would be very useful.

Additionally you should be a very competent user of Excel and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
