Trainee Machine Operator / Setter

Job Description

Do you have an interest in things technical and how products are manufactured? This represents an excellent opportunity to be trained in the programming and operation of light production machines which produce components to protect electronic systems and devices from the effects of heat and electro magnetic/RF interference. Customers include major companies globally in the pharmaceutical, automotive, aerospace and commercial electronics sectors.

 

Working in a modern and clean manufacturing facility with a team of friendly, well motivated people, the Trainee Machine Operator / Setter will learn a variety of skills from machine setting/programming to using CAD software (Autocad) to using spreadsheets/databases to reading customers’ engineering drawings to machine operation, always working to high Quality standards and striving for continuous improvement.

 

Duties of the Trainee Machine Operator/Setter will focus on:

 

  • Carrying out a production process using the correct tools and documentation.
  • Working to high quality standards and flagging any quality issues to the Quality Manager for correction.

     

  • Adhering to the Health and Safety requirements applicable within the department.

 

In the fullness of time, there is good scope for personal development, expanding your skills set and potentially moving into Team Leadership or production engineering. Support on relevant College courses will be available.

 

You may be someone already experienced in a manufacturing environment or you might be someone who can demonstrate an enthusiasm for making things through hobbies or past times that suggest you are technically minded, have an enthusiasm for technical matters and have a close eye for detail and who is keen to work in a modern manufacturing environment.

 

Most importantly  you should be enthusiastic, positive and a team player, somone who is eager to learn and apply their knowledge. It would be useful if you can read engineering drawings and be knowledgable in CAD but it is not essential. You must, however, be a good communicator and team player who is computer literate (Excel/Microsoft Office). Flexible and versatile, you are numerate and enjoy problem solving.

 

Salary is dependent on experience but is likely to be in teh £18000-£22000 pa range.
