Job Description

Highly successful special purpose machinery manufacturer seeks an experienced Controls/Software Engineer to join its team in coastal Essex.

We require a Controls/Software Engineer who is willing to take on plenty of responsibility within a small team, and be able to react swiftly and positively to customer requests. The company is happy to provide training specific to their machines but they do expect the applicant to have a very good level of software engineering skills.

 

Key duties of the Controls/Software Engineer will include:

  • Assist in design of low voltage electrical circuits and control panels for machine control - Autocad/Ecad.
  • Produce electrical panel layouts in Autocad.
  • Assist in preparation of technical documentation issued to customers and company’s electricians.
  • Writing / modifying operating software for machine control - (PLC based programs – Siemens S7-1200).
  • Installation of software to new machines.
  • Software testing and fault finding.
  • Technical assistance with supporting customer machines in the field.
  • Looking at costings on electrical or software items wherever possible.
  • Communicate with team members on all projects including R & D and advise them of any issues that need to be rectified. 

 

Experienced in software engineering (Siemens S7-1200 PLC-based programs an advantage but not essential), you should be very familiar with electrical panel wiring and electrical drawings.

 

Positive, organised and able to show attention to detail, you are a teamwork oriented person with good problem solving skills, communicative and customer service minded.

 

The Controls/Software Engineer will work 8.30 am-5.00 pm Monday-Thursday and from 8.30 am-4.00 pm on Friday.

 

Salary will be no lower than £40000 pa and negotiable up to £50000 subject to experience and skillset.

25 days of holiday plus Bank Holidays.
